ARRIVE
LUSAKA, ZAMBIA / SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK |
|
|
From Lusaka International airport you take your domestic
scheduled flight to Mfuwe where you will be met by your guide
and transferred to Kapani Lodge, set in idyllic grounds
overlooking the Kapani Lagoon. This camp is a very
comfortable way of starting your Luangwa safari experience,
each of the 10 large suites, is airy with a fridge and
overhead fans for your comfort. Although walks are possible
from Kapani we recommend game viewing from vehicles since you
will spend more of your time on foot whilst staying at the
bushcamps.

LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK |
|
|
After an early morning game drive and brunch you will
be transferred to the first of your remote bushcamps and met
by your guide and host. He will explain the plan for the days
ahead and introduce you to your armed escort scout who will
accompany each walk. This afternoon you will venture out on
foot for your first experience of a safari in the most
traditional manner.

LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK |
|
|
This morning you will rise early to discuss with your guide
some of the bush sounds that may have kept you awake through
the night. If lions were heard calling on the early morning
breeze this will influence your guide’s choice of route
otherwise you will all set out in the hopes of picking up the
fresh tracks of the pride or perhaps a leopard that was
patrolling his territory. The morning walk is usually a slow
and leisurely wander through the bush, tea and cool drinks are
carried and enjoyed in the shade of a tree or next to the
river.

|
Today’s morning walk will also act as a transfer to your
next bush camp, you will set out early and the walk will
finish at your next camp, bags will be in your room and brunch
laid out ready for your arrival. Here as with all Norman Carr
camps you will have a choice of game viewing by vehicle or on
foot.

LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK |

|
Again the choice of a drive, a walk of a combination of both
will be offered by your guide, he will discus with you the
areas and species that you still wish explore and discover
before leaving the Luangwa. Night drives are a popular
feature of the Luangwa, the Park has a very dense
concentration of leopard and of course there are a host of
other nocturnal animals that will only be seen after the hours
of darkness.

LUANGWA / LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK |
|
|
The drive to Mfuwe airport heads off through the Park giving
you a last opportunity to gaze in awe at a herd of elephants
as they cross the Luangwa River in the early morning sun or to
sit with a group of the endemic Thornicrofts giraffe. A short
flight will deliver you to Jeki Airstrip in the Lower Zambezi
and the next part of your adventure begins.
The airstrip is inside the Park and a short distance from
SausageTree Camp. Set on a beautiful side-water of the main
Zambezi River the camp consists of 8 Bedouin style tents, each
with a private view of the river.

LOWER
ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK |
|
|
There is a wide variety of activities to keep you busy in
the Lower Zambezi, game viewing can be on foot, by vehicle or
by boat, canoeing the quiet side channels is a beautifully
peaceful way of spending a morning and for both the
experienced fisherman and the complete novice catching your
first Zambezi Tiger Fish is a memory that will stay with you
for a long while.

Another full day of activities but remember to leave enough
time to relax in the cool tranquility of the camp
swimming-pool that overlooks the Zambezi floating lazily by.

ZAMBEZI / LIVINGSTONE – VICTORIA FALLS |
|
|
Today, as usual will start with tea at the camp fire and
then a morning walk or perhaps your last float down this
beautiful stretch of river for today you will fly on to
Livingstone, home of the magnificent Victoria Falls and your
last stop in Zambia.
The drive from Livingstone Airport will take you upstream to
a stunning bend in the river and to Tongabezi Camp, where each
of the rooms has a splendid view across the river and once
again you will be offered a wide variety of activities.

LIVINGSTONE – VICTORIA FALLS |
|
|
Tongabezi is indeed one of the most romantic destinations in
Africa but do not be tempted to stay in your open fronted room
all day because a host of activities await. Livingstone has
become known as the adrenalin capital of Africa with
whitewater rafting, bunji jumping, and gorge swings numbering
just a few of your options alternatively take lunch on
Livingstone Island and swim in a natural rock-pool that quite
literally finds you hanging over the edge of the Falls
themselves.

LIVINGSTONE - VICTORIA FALLS / DEPART |
|
|
After a quiet breakfast in your room or on the deck
stretching out into the river you will say a last farewell to
the Zambezi River and to Zambia before departing from
Livingstone Airport.
